There were small groups of bass scattered around. If you could geton top of one of the little groups you might get lucky and pick one up. The bait showed up with the outgoing tide, but the bass that should have been following it weremissing in action. We stopped off at the edge of the flats so our anglers could get in a swim before heading back to the harbor.

Saturday, July 17

Another outstanding day. Saturday is a non-commercial day, but the area is crowded with weekend warriors - too many boats for us to be able to use the outriggers. The fish weren't as large as the ones we saw yesterday. We caught 40 keeper sized bass and two throwback sized. We also picked up another three big bluefish in the mix.

Friday, July 16

A great day! While we headed up to Provincetown for the early eight hour, our anglers settled into the salon and cooked up some breakfast in the galley. Once we set out our lines, the fishing was outstanding. The commercial boats don't fish on Friday, so we had room to move around and get on the good size fish. We easily limited out on 36" to 40" bass and threw back a lot more keeper sizedfish. We also picked up a couple of big bluefish on the jigs which the guys cookedup in the galley on our way back to the harbor - it doesn't get any fresher. It was the best bluefish I have ever had.

Thursday, July 15

Fishing wasn't terrible but is wasn't good either. Our anglers only wanted to keep two fish so we released a few of the keepers. Towards the end of the trip a seal popped up just under our outrigger. The seal was holding a freshly caught skate. Captain Eric and family, aboard the Tammy Rose, had already taken their fill of fish and were heading to the Island for some clamming by the time we passed the Shoals. We headed further out past Provincetown and set out the tuna gear in 200' of water near Peaked Hill. We found a lot of small schools of tuna on the surface along the edges of the rips. They showed some interest in the trolling gear, but never actually bit into them. Captain Derrick had a bit more action up on the bow with a spinning rod. He managed to tempt several fish to follow his lure right up to the boat.

We finally pulled in the gear and headed back to port, stopping just off the Race to pick up a few bass. Captain Marty fired up the grill and cooked up a nice assortment of fish, steak and linguica for dinner. We dropped off Captains Derrick and Kirstyn at Rock Harbor in time for them to meet up with friends for their own holiday celebrations. Captain Marty quickly turned Liberty back towards Provincetown where he and the Ship's Purser shared an anchor and enjoyed the fireworks with Captain John and his family aboard the Lucky Lady II. We anchored Liberty at the tip of the Cape for the evening before heading back to Rock Harbor at dawn.

Friday, July 2

Captain Marty reports "We set out jigging on the west end of the shoals and worked our way northeast.
